John Buckley is one of the most respected fine art consultants and curators in Australia and has been closely involved with some of the country's most prestigious institutions such as the National Gallery of Victoria and the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne and the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane. He also curated the Loti and Victor Smorgon Collection of Contemporary Art, which is now a key component of the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. He is currently Director of John Buckley Gallery in Melbourne.
Over the years John has amassed an impressive private collection of modern and contemporary Australian art by the country's leading practitioners.
John has decided that the time has come for him to de-accession the significant part of his extensive collection which includes major works by ground breaking Australian artists such as John Brack, Rosalie Gascoigne, Gareth Sansom, Dale Hickey, Bronwyn Oliver, Peter Atkins, Peter Booth, Howard Arkley, Ricky Swallow.
