• Notes:
  The central figure in this work is reportedly then Director of the Australian National Gallery in Canberra, James Mollison, who was an early embracer of the Roar Studios group of artists, which included Pasquale Giardino. Mollison invited the members of the Roar group to a meeting at the Australian National Gallery to discuss commissioning them to paint murals in the gallery's cafe. This painting seemingly records the story of that meeting. The Melbourne Roar group essentially continued to exist and exhibit from 1982-98. Members included Wayne Eager, Sarah Faulkner, Andrew and Peter Ferguson, Karan Hayman, Ann Howie, Mark Howson, David Larwill, Michael Nicholls, Jill Noble, Mark Schaller and Judi Singleton, in addition to Giardino. Several of these artists are represented in the John Buckley Collection. Dr Shireen Huda
