Douglas Falconer (1913 - 2004) - Two Scottish Scenes Oils
Ben Lomond, Scotland and Part of Loch Ettive, Scotland oils on board both Signed lower right in gilt frames measure
• Notes:
A painter of British descent, Douglas Falconer worked primarily with oil paints, depicting rural, pastoral and maritime scenes often inspired by the wilderness that surrounded him in his hometown of Scotland. Towering mountainous backdrops contrast with calm lakes and rural tranquility within this set of two oil paintings. Travelling the British countryside extensively in search of inspiration, Falconer always returned to the haunting beauty of the Scottish lochs and and craggy hills, characterising his body of work. Timeless and well preserved, this duo depict Ben Lomond and Lock Ettive of Scotland, areas still renowned for their powerful yet lush landscapes.
