    1996 MGRV8
    VIN: SARRAWBMBMG001631
  • Notes:
Launched in 1993, Rover Cars had the vision to keep the MG brand alive and uniting traditional MG clientele with modern motoring innovation. The RV8 is mostly hand built on an MGB chassis with a 3.950-litre Rove engine. The MG inspired styling is a retro interpretation of the eternally classic MGB retaining cool elements such as the bonnet and boot metal. The RV8 could reach speeds of up to 100kph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds with an output of 190hp set from its rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. The model was expensive for Rover to build and the car did not attract the patronage for the company that was hoped for other than the Japanese, who absolutely loved the car and ordered 1300 units after it was released at the Tokyo Motor Show, in 1993. This limited model run was only built from 1994 to 1996 with a mere 1,982 examples built with 80% of these being exported to Japan. The cars were finished in Woodcote Green, dark metallic blue and metallic burgundy. The luxurious interiors were finished in Connolly leather and burr elm woodwork. This Woodcote Green example was imported in to New Zealand from Japan in 2013 with an odometer reading of 49,000kms which currently reads 54,000kms. It comes with service books and receipts making this smart and iconic car a super opportunity for an affordable V8 sports car.
