    A pair of Qing dynasty hardwood horseshoe back armchairs
    the curved top rail with down-swept arms and out-swept hand grips are constructed of three pieces using lap joined method, more commonly the cresting is in five pieces. The rectangular S shaped splat with a central pieced cloud medallion of Kylins. The seat with inset panel upon rounded legs, which go through the seat framing to support the crest rail. The brass-shaped fittings reinforce the construction where stresses occur. Chinese furniture use mortise and tenon joint without the use of nails and glue. The wear to the front of the seat rail and foot stretcher give leaning towards the ealier part of the dynasty.
