    Great War 'Tribute' Medal.
    In 9ct Gold in shape of a shield and engraved 'The Great War 1914-18. A Token of Honour to 8/17 W C Burdett from Roseberry Residents on his return from four and a half years active service.' And Medal 'For King and Country', sterling silver, 1919.

    Private William Clement Burdett, Otago Infantry Battalion, was from Herbert, North Otago. He embarked for overseas on 16 October 1914. 'Roseberry' was the name of the farm station of Mr Angus Ross at Herbert. (see 'The Cyclopedia of New Zealand', vol. 4: Otago and Southland, 1905, page 463).
