  Group of 6 to Flight Lieutenant George Maurice Given, DFC, RNZAF.
  (i) Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC), reverse dated 1944; with case. [Approximately 1,014 DFC to New Zealanders]. (ii) 1939-34 Star. (iii) Air Crew Europe Star w/c 'France and Germany'. (iv) Defence Medal. (v) War Medal 1939-45. (vi) New Zealand War Service Medal 1939-45.
• Provenance:
  Purchased at New Zealand Coin & Medal Co Ltd, Auckland, Auction 9 June 1983 (lot 149) as from the collection of late Dan O Atkinson. Sold with RNZAF cap badge, King's Crown, brass.
• Notes:
  NZ405789 Flt Lt Given was born on 30 April 1921 at Christchurch. Served with RNZAF from 30 December 1940 to 30 December 1945 as a Bomb Aimer, 578 Squadron RAF (Halifax). DFC 9 November 1944 'Flying Officer Given has completed numerous operations against the enemy, in the course of which he has invariably displayed the utmost fortitude, courage and devotion to duty'. His tour consisted of 40 sorties. He died on 1 August 1970 at Auckland.
