    V. SCARCE AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATED 1821 BRITISH CAVALRY OFFICER'S SWORD
    beautiful 34¼" blade etched with ROYAL CYPHER VR, acanthus leaf decoration & #23649 to back edge; Prince of Wales feathers, BY APPOINTMENT & HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON to ricasso; obverse side, Battle Honours, PENINSULA, WATERLOO, ALMA, BALAKLAVA, SEVASTAPOL, INKERMAN in banners, centred between the banner sunburst Royal Cypher, 13 & motto VIRET IN A ETERNUM, also, family crest of William A. Thompson of the 13th Hussars & other crests; std 3 bar hilt with grey finish; vg fish skin grips bound with woven silver wire; complete with correct, plated steel scabbard. A beautiful sword. William A. Thompson was A.D.C. for the Governor of Sth Australia from 1889-1891.
