    Mongolian Buddhist Cloth Applique Thangka of Mahakala
    Mahakala is a category of male Tantric Buddhist deities. The common function of Mahakala is as a protector (Dharmapala) deity and specifically the primary Wisdom Protector of Himalayan and Tibetan Buddhism. In this beautifully sewn applique, he is surrounded by skulls and has some metal bead attachments around the neck. the colour is still in very good condition as it was kept stored when not in use in a home shrine of traveling herdsmen of Mongolia.
