  • Description:
A NOTE FROM THEODORE BRUCE ABOUT THE DAVID AND PAMELA EVANS COLLECTION:

Theodore Bruce is proud to offer the Collection of David & the Late Pamela Evans in a series of three online auctions showcasing their House Contents in a three part auction, as follows:

Auction One on Sunday 7 August: Extensive collections of Russian Palekh & Fedoskino Boxes, Persian Rugs & Herend porcelain collected on their travels.
Auction Two on Monday 8 August: Art, Maps & Books including Tallis & other maps, Russian Icons & extensive collection of Books
Auction Three on Monday 8 August: Burmese & South East Asian Arts including silver & ceramics.

David Evans, an Australian diplomat, South Australian & Rhodes scholar, and his Late wife Pamela, inherited a strong interest in antiques & fine arts from their families on which they were able to build & develop over the forty years of David's outstanding career in the diplomatic service, which included Indonesia (1962-1965), Yugoslavia (1970-1972), India (1991-1994) Ambassadorships to Turkey (1994 to 1997), the former USSR (1981 to 1984), Senegal (1974 to 1977) and the Ivory Coast (1975 to 1977), High Commissionerships to India (1990 to 1994), Malaysia (1984 to 1987), Ghana (1974 to 1977), and Deputy High Commissioner to the UK (1987 to 1990), as well as extensive travels in Asia, Europe & the Middle East.

The fascination with antiques led to Pamela setting up a stall selling silver antiques at Camden Passage markets in London on Saturday mornings while David did volunteer work at the local antique map rooms.

Their fascination with the histories and skills of so many different peoples led to the eclectic collection now offered for sale.
