A COLLECTION OF WILUNA METEORITE FRAGMENTS:

On September 2, 1967 at 10:46 p.m. local time a large meteorite shower fell East of Wiluna, Western Australia in an elliptical area 5 x 3 kilometres. It is estimated that 500 to 1000 stones hit the ground. The Western Australian Museum has 480 stones and others are in private collections. They are classified as H5 chondrite meteorites.

The fragments were collected by James Murray Jackson, son of the artist James R Jackson, whilst he was gold prospecting in 1968.

The Western Australian Museum has been contacted and they are happy for the fragments to be auctioned.

This is a timed online format auction, meaning that bidders can participate in the auction via computer only. Bidding for the first lot closes at 11am, with a 1 minute delay between subsequent lots.
