Lot Description:1926 500B Class tender steam locomotive, road number ‘504’
named the “Tom Barr Smith” (330x42x57mm) designed by Fred Shea and built by Armstrong Whitworth (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England), black livery, 4-8-4 wheel configuration (the original 4-8-2 setting was rebuilt with a booster in 1929) with five carriages including 9000 gallon water tank, loaded wagon carrying pipes and a tarpaulin-covered wagon (total size with carriages 1150x42x57mm). Notes:[All the ‘500’ class locomotives were named after eminent South Australians. The ‘504’ is preserved intact at the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide.]
