the flattened spherical lobed body cast with twelve cartouches featuring the Zodiac animals, the lid surmounted by an eagle standing on a rock with outspread wings, the incense burner supported by a coiled dragon, signed '?????????' 'Dai-Nihon Bunsei-nen Seimin-chu' (Great Japan Bunsei Era Casted by Seimin)

Notes:Murata Seimin, 1st generation (1818-1837), was a well known Edo artist. Seimin cast the 500 Arhats at Kench?ji Temple in Kyoto. This koro most probably cast by the 3rd generation Seimin, at the end of the 19th century
