Notes:The poster is for the Borsari Emporium, which commenced business in Carlton in 1941. The shop specialised in a variety of goods including jewellery, household items, hunting equipment and imported Italian magazines and newspapers. It later became Borsari restaurant [1995]. Nino Borsari was a gold medal winner in cycling for Italy at the 1934 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He visited Australia that year to compete in a 1,000 mile race organised as part of the centenary celebrations of European settlement of Victoria. He later settled in Melbourne and became a prominent figure in the sporting and cultural life of the Italian community.
