    [QUEENSLAND INTEREST] - A presentation leather album of photographs
    “Presented to Harry Alfred Long, Esq., on the occasion of his leaving Glasgow, by the Directors of the Glasgow United Young Men’s Christian Association, as a mark of their esteem. 28th May, 1896” with 32 window mounted albumen portrait photographs in cabinet card format, each signed by the subject on the album leaf below the mount.
  • Notes:
    Harry Alfred Long (1825 - 1905) was a Protestant evangelist and staunch Temperance advocate who spent most of his working life lecturing and writing in Glasgow before emigrating to Queensland, following one of his daughters, Mrs Felix Savage, who had settled in Brisbane in the 1880’s. Long is buried at Toowong Cemetery.
