1957 BSA ROAD ROCKET 646cc MOTORCYCLE
Designed by former Triumph and Norton designer Bert Hopwood the A-10 Road Rocket was BSAs next evolution from the Golden Flash. Designed to compete with the Triumph and Norton's of the period, the bike was marketed as "undoubtedly the world's greatest motorcycle" upon release. The A-10 was the top of the BSA line at the time and proved a very successful bike both on and off the track. The 646cc air-cooled twin produced 35-40 horsepower and a top speed of 109 miles per hour. It had a TT9 carb, aluminium cylinder heads, and a four-speed gearbox. The Super Rocket replaced it in 1957. This bike was until recently fully registered in Victoria.
