    MBE awarded to Amy Pomeroy, WW1
    Amy and her husband John Pomeroy invented the "Pomeroy bullet" which ended the menace of the zeppelin, Amy was awarded the MBE in 1918 "Honoured for executing a task requiring exceptional courage and self sacrifice".
  • Notes:
    Amy was an Australian woman who married the New Zealander John Pomeroy. John was granted £25000 in royalties and was repeatedly offered a knighthood which he turned down. Amy accepted the MBE and £5000 in royalties. The medal is in its original case, slight AF to case and has been held in the Pomeroy family until now. A rare and important artefact relating to Australian women in WW1.
