Hardcover. 1776 First Edition. Publisher: Printed for the Author, 1776 London: 284pp Folio. 14" x 9-1/8". Frontis, & 48 plates. Thomas Malton was an architectural draughtsman of some repute; known for his accuracy in perspective, young J. M. W. Turner was brought to Malton by his father for lessons on that very subject, and subsequently Turner, in later life, said "My real master was Tom Malton.". This work one of the earliest [if not the earliest] English publications on the subject. Original calf. -
