    Three Elaborately Embroidered Cushions, Two Bear the Initials IHS, Signifying their use in the Orthodox Church, 18th/19th C.
    two fashioned from an original piece of ecclesiastical textile bearing the initial IHS - base cloth is silk hand embroidered using a traditional chain stitch & couching using gold metallic thread, & is backed in a mulberry coloured cotton the other is backed in a camel coloured velvet and linen, using a combination of metallic and silk threads, both have metallic ribbon and fringing. The third cushion is fashioned from an original piece of textile, probably Central Asian, elaborately hand woven panel comprising of two designs embroidered onto one main piece of cotton base cloth, a wax coating had been applied onto the base cloth.
