    Purchased by the vendor from Norm Flaydermann, Fort Lauderdale, FL., USA in 1983 from a trunk containing the Col. Dyer's effects.

Isaac Dyer, drug store owner, was born in Skowhegan, Maine, on 1 November, 1820. He served with the local militia during the 1830s and joined the 1st Maine Inf. on 19 December, 1861 as a Lt. Col. He was promoted to Col. in February, 1862 and took command of the regiment at the Battle of Sabine Cross Roads and Pleasant Hills, LA. in 1864. He served with Sheridan and Grant in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign and assisted with the Freedman Bureau. He was discharged on 13 March, 1865 and appointed Brevet Brig.
