    circa 1830, "WALLIS'S NEW DISSECTED MAP OF ASIA
    Engraved from the latest authority for the use of Young Students in GEOGRAPHY" [J.Wallis, No.42 Skinner St., Snow Hill]. Printed lithographic map cut into sections and laid down on interlocking wooden pieces; all original, except for one small piece (Caspian Sea, which has been restored). 54 x 44cm at the widest point. Contained in the original wooden box, with sliding lid and printed label. Extremely rare.
  • Notes:
    Victoria and South Australia have not yet been delineated; Tasmania is still shown as Van Diemen's Land and the west coast of New Guinea is imagined. Parts of Western Australia are labelled "Dinnings Land", "Ebel Land", "Endrachts Land", "De Witts Land", etc.
