including Hurwood and Walker, who were not selected for any of the Tests. The team led by Woodfull included Richardson, Grimmett, Bradman, McCabe, Jackson, Kippax, Ponsford and a'Beckett. The sheet has also been signed by Chapman (England's captain), Hendren and Duleepsinhji, members of the England team.
  • Notes:
Australia won the 1930 Ashes series against England, winning 2 of the matches and losing one, with the other 2 tests drawn. The Australian tourists were captained by Bill Woodfull, while the home side were led by Percy Chapman, who was dropped in favour of Bob Wyatt in the final Test. This particular tour will always be remembered by reason of the amazing batting successes which attended the efforts of Bradman. It is not too much to say that he took both England and the whole cricket world by storm. Those who, like myself, had seen him play in Australia against the team captained by A. P. F. Chapman were fully prepared for something out of the common but little did we dream that his progress would be of such a triumphal nature. Nothing like his series of colossal innings in the Test Matches had ever before been witnessed........While the Australians undoubtedly owed much of their success to Bradman's batting, it cannot be denied that an almost equally potent factor in the overthrow of England was the bowling of Grimmett." [S.J. Southerton] N.B. The verso of the sheet is signed by the members of the Huddersfield Rugby League Club at Wembly, 25th April 1953, the day they won the Challenge Cup, beating St. Helens 15-10 in front of a crowd of over 89,000. The Huddersfield team featured Australian Pat Deverey.
