  Provenance: Tom McCourt Collection; Private Collection, NSW.
• Notes:
  Tom McCourt worked as a cattleman which allowed him to travel vast areas of Australia & developed an obsession with Australian Aboriginal culture during the mid-twentieth century. He acquired firsthand knowledge of the Aboriginal artefacts which he collected & accurately recorded in most cases the collection location. He also acquired material from early collections. Mr. McCourt wrote extensively about his collection & eventually published a book entitled, "Aboriginal Artefacts" (Rigby, 1975). The majority of his collection now resides in the South Australian Museum.
