    James J. Braddock's cancelled relief cheque from the Emergency Relief Administration of New Jersey
    handwritten inscription 'Cancelled June 19th-1935 John O'Neill' and verso 'Paid in Full / June 19th-1935 / John J O'Neill / Hudson County; together with an enveloped inscribed in hand 'RELIEF NOTE BRADDOCK' and with a printed with an advertisement for the World's Heavyweight Championship boxing match at Madison Square Garden Bowl, 13 June 1935. 'During the research for the movie Cinderella Man (2005) we found out an amazing story about how James J. Braddock repaid the money the government relief agency had given him when he was experiencing hard times in the depression of the 1930s. The story became a scene in the movie. This is the actual cheque that Braddock used to pay back the relief agency in 1935.' Russell Crowe
