  The AMC models of 1963 were reinvigorated by Richard Teague, whose design influence took the range into a more streamlined and stylish fully optioned car powered by a V-8. This new look Rambler was assembled in various countries including Australia by Australian Motor Industries (AMI) from Partial Knock Down (PKD) kits. The vehicles were partially assembled and painted at the AMC Kenosha, Wisconsin, factory in right-hand drive with body, engine, transmission, front suspension, rear axle and doors installed. Components were packed and exported inside the car for final assembly in Australia but the interior fittings were sourced locally for import tariff concessions. The Australian cars can be identified by the amber rear indicators that were needed to comply with Australian Safety Standards. The 1964 model year Classics were refined with stainless steel rocker covers labelled ‘Classic 287’, a simpler single-plane aluminium grille and oval tail-lights replacing the flush mounted look of the 1963 models. This extremely nice example of the Cross Country 660 station wagon in the Clem Smith Collection was owned previously by Mr. Nicholas Vinicky of Seaton, South Australia and became part of the collection in about 2010. This station wagon has been a much admired participant in car shows winning an award in category. It is finished in green paintwork with a white roof and tan interior and bucket seats. It has a column shift 3-speed automatic with a 287cid V8 engine. It features a wind-up rear window and a full roof rack and the original Rambler radio. The odometer reading is 26,664 miles approx. This vehicle will be sold unregistered.
