    1961 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ LHD
    VIN: 7AT02402X15068822
  • Notes:
The Biarritz designation was used on Cadillac convertibles manufactured between 1953 and 2002. The name distinguished the head turning convertible from the Seville, which was the sleeker coupe. These luxurious iconic American automobiles were powered with the famous 429, 6.4-litre V8 with a 4-barrel carburettor. A mere 1,450 examples of the Biarritz were built in 1961 and it is believed only 150 remain in the world today. The 1961 model benefited from GM’s swing to smaller and lighter cars as well as endorsing Chief Designer, Bill Mitchell’s more reserved approach to styling. All Cadillacs of this model came with power brakes and steering, electric hood, the Autronic Eye (an automatic headlight dimming system), automatic transmission, dual speed wipers and electric windows as standard. Extra features included a heater and eye glass rear window tints. This stunning Biarritz has been held in the ownership of an American since 2008 and was shipped to New Zealand when he moved here in 2015. It is fully complied and registered with a current WOF. Prior to its importation to New Zealand, the car was the subject of an extensive restoration and is now considered to be one of the finest of its type in the world. The original paint code 98 (Topaz Metallic) has been used with a matching 15B luxury ostrich grain leather trim in Topaz Florentine. The current odometer reading is 745 miles. It is fitted with a push button radio and the door panel chrome specific only to the 1961 model. The 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is today regarded as the “holy grail” of American car ownership and has that extra special appeal to discerning buyers who love the ultimate in US motoring of the Swinging Sixties. The car is accompanied by its original handbook.
