    in issues of the London Chronicle newspaper issued in early 1789: March 28-31, 1789: A short article reporting on the arrival at the Admiralty office of Commodore Phillips journals from Botany Bay. “...The natives of New Holland never appeared in such consternation, as one morning when they beheld Capt. Hunter, of the Sirius, on horseback. They had never seen such an animal......they imagined the rider and the horse one animal only, for when he dismounted, their shouts were more more violet than before.”
