    RAAF Service Dress Uniform (blue) c.1935-38, named to Air Commodore Hyppolyte Ferdinand De La Rue CBE,DFC
    tunic with KC buttons and scarce bullion K/C dress Pilot Wings and gold bullion lace Air Commodore rank to each sleeve with K/C eagle to left sleeve, made by David Jones, matching service dress trousers, button front with buttons for suspenders. 6 place ribbon bar has been replaced (probably removed by family).
  • Notes:
    De La Rue served with Merchant Marine on Gallipoli Peninsula from landings to evacuation, joined the RNAS in 1916, transferred to the newly formed RAAF in 1921, promoted through ranks to Wing Commander in 1932, Group Captain 1937, Acting Air Commodore 1941, appointed CBE 1944.
