1956 MORRIS MINOR SERIES II UTILITY
Chassis no: OGH/33543; Engine no: 227470
  • Notes:
First registered in New Zealand on 17th January, 1957 to Mr. Rupert Byford of Masterton, this is the last of the Series II, split screen model. Very few utilities were produced on the standard Series II Morris Minor sedan platform making this vehicle rare and desirable. A development of the extremely successful 1948 Series I side-valve Minors, the Series II, introduced in October 1952, was fitted with the BMC A series 800cc engine that had been developed for its stable mate, the Austin A30. A number of improvements were introduced during the four years of Series II production including the 'A' type rear axle, an engine steady cable, revised grille, new instruments and an improved dashboard control panel. A particular feature of this Minor utility is the lacquered timber floor of the tray which is in good order for its age and use. It changed ownership in 1976 to Mr. Hector Tagg with 15,730 on the clock and later to Mr Osborne Todd with 22,600 miles accrued. The vehicle was then purchased by great friend Bill Pyne with 25,989 miles accrued who then sold it to Roy Savage. It now has an odometer reading of 25,200 miles approx. It is accompanied with its tool kit and a canopy. This vehicle will be sold licenced with WoF
