Notes:This painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Warlukurlangu Artists that states: ‘This story is part of Karntakurlangu (Womens Dreaming) which belongs to Napanangka / Napangardi sub-section. During the Dreamtime a group of Napanangka / Napangardi women travelled through Janyinki to Mina Mina, the site associated with this Dreaming, on their way east. They carried karlangu (digging sticks) and collected bush tucker such as jintiparnta and purlurntari, which they carried in their parraja (food carriers). Both jinti-parnta and purlurntari are varieties of edible fungus, also known as native truffle, that arefound after rains. The growing fungus forces the earth above it to crack, exposing it. Women collect jinti-punta, squeeze out the juice, then eat it after cooking. Also Napanangka / Napangardi were collecting ngalyipi to make shoulder strap to carry a coolamon with bush tucker. The design featured in this painting is of the digging sticks.’
