A pair of early 20thC small painted panels with detailed scenes of 'Lake Rotorua' and 'Lake Rotoiti'
the blade ends with extensive lake scenes including buildings and Maori figures, inscribed to the shaft in black ink. In the manner of John Philemon Backhouse. Length 335. The reverse further inscribed 'Paddle made out of a bit of the Old Melanesian Mission Schooner 'Southern Cross', further detailed in Maori and with the dates 1874-1891 and with the names 'Pattison + Selwyn.
