  Wendel, Robert. New South Wales Album [cover title]
  Oblong quarto, with 20 full-page and two double-page chromolithographed plates (the double-page plates clean and without the usual adhesion damage) each plate with a leaf of letterpress description (three backed, a few with marginal repairs), and with the 28-page “History of New South Wales” interleaved with advertisement leaves that is not found in all copies, bound in the original publisher’s half leather and cloth boards (rebacked and recornered in calf), the title in gilt within a decorative gilt frame on the front board, all edges gilt. • Notes:
  Charles Troedel established a Sydney branch following his successes in Melbourne. Aiming to repeat his success with the Melbourne Album a decade earlier, he commissioned a companion piece for New South Wales. Troedel gave the task to Robert Wendel, whom Shuhkrafft had brought out to Melbourne with Troedel in 1860 and who had worked with Troedel on the Melbourne Album. Troedel issued the New South Wales Album in at least four different forms of which this is the most complete. Ferguson, 17330; Wantrup, 265.
