    Wilson, Edward. Samuel Thomas Gill (illustrated by). Rambles at the Antipodes
    a Series of Sketches of Moreton Bay, New Zealand, the Murray River and South Australia, and the Overland Route. With two maps; and twelve tinted lithographs, illustrative of Australian life, by S.T. Gill. Small octavo, with 12 tinted plates (top edges little damp marked) and two folding maps, bound in the original decorated orange cloth. London, W.H. Smith and Son, 1859.
  • Notes:
    First edition, first issue of an excellent and objective account of colonial life. The only book S.T. Gill was commissioned to illustrate, this volumes brings together newspaper articles written during extensive travels throughout Australasia in the later 1850s by the radical democratic owner-editor of the Melbourne Argus.
