  Blundell, James J. Ravenstein, F. (cartographer). General map of Australia and Tasmania or Van Diemen’s Land
  shewing the British Colonies as divided into counties 1857. Drawn from the British & French Government surveys and other sources, with the new electoral divisions of the colony of Victoria Large coloured lithographed map, 940 x 1160 mm, with six inset maps of the World, New Zealand, Victoria, Norfolk Island, Sydney, and Mount Alexander, and a fine steel-engraved vignette (after S.T. Gill) of the approach to Melbourne, dissected and laid down on fine linen edged with silk as issued, and folding into the publisher’s gilt-lettered green cloth case (little used). Melbourne, James J. Blundell, 1857.

  A very scarce, desirable, and impressive map, published by Blundell with a goldrush audience in mind but also with some evident and more altruistic patriotism.
