With Some Account of the Country of Camchatca, a Late Discovery of the Russians. Octavo, with half-title, publisher’s advertisements on final leaf verso, with two leaves of early manuscript notes bound in, a little worming in the margins, 1802 owner’s signature on the title, calf of the period neatly rebacked.   Only edition of this rare important privately-printed compilation of South Seas voyages, drawn mainly from Cook. Rev. John Trusler was a somewhat eccentric – almost compulsive – literary compiler, publishing “many works, on subjects ranging from philosophy to farming... [This] work contains descriptions and history of Tahiti and the Society Islands, the Friendly Islands, New Hebrides, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Australia, the Solomon Islands, New Holland, and Kamchatka. It offers lively and entertaining discussions of the customs of the inhabitants of these various Pacific islands” (Hill). Hill 2, 1719; Kroepelien, 1299 (mentioning a folding map, in error).
