[Dordrecht : Joannes van Braam, 1724-1726]. Tooley 1272. Ellis 2. Engraving. From Valentyn, 'Oud en nieuw Oost-Indien'. Includes two coastal profiles. One shows Golden Bay (or Murderer's Bay) during Dutch explorer Abel Tasman's visit in December 1642, with his ships, the Zeehaen and the Heemskerck, surrounded by double-hulled waka. The other shows Tasman Bay with the two ships. One of the first representations of New Zealand and the Maori. An exquisite copy of this very scarce engraving. VG.
