Lot Description:- 1940 (Mar 12) usage of Greek Ancient Navy 2L Postal Card uprated with 2L strip of 3 in the same design, to Herbert Basedow,
boxed '.../225/GREEK CENSOR' h/s & diamond Adelaide censor h/s both in violet, minor blemishes. The message enquires about Basedow supplying half a tonne of bismuth. Italy invaded Greece on 28/10/1940.

Notes:[Herbert Basedow was something of a Rennaissance Man. A medical doctor, he was also chairman of several mining companies in Central Australia. A member of major expeditions to the Northern Territory, he was also an accomplished anthropologist & staunch supporter of Australia's aborigines. In 1934, the Australian Government bought part of his ethnology collection, now in Canberra's Australian Institute of Anatomy]
