"Many mail order catalogues such as Lasetter's Monthy Commercial Review and department stores catered for country clients by offering samples of fabrics. Up until the 1920's, Lassetter's offered men's suits, tailor made, by mail order, and before being made up, they sent 'free samples to any address'. This quilt contains many samples of woollen fabrics in the centre panel. The quilt is machine-pieced, and the front is attached to the back by machine quilting throughout."
