• Notes:
  Formerly thought to be a self-portrait c.1630, hence the low Bartsch catalogue no. of B11. It is now known that Rembrandt executed this work in the mid-1650s. The work was executed just prior to Rembrandt filing for bankruptcy in July 1656, at a time when he had achieved a mastery over etching as a medium of expression.
