  Note: Commotion was 3rd to Martini-Henry in 1883 Melbourne Cup; 2nd to Malua in 1884 Melbourne Cup. In A.B.'Banjo' Paterson's poem 'A Dream of the Melbourne Cup', published in the 'Bulletin' just prior to the running of the 1886 Melbourne Cup, Commotion was just pipped on the post.
