    unmarked, possibly Hungarian c.1650, weight 50gm, l 10cm together with Hanging Altar Lamp, possibly Eastern European, mid 18th Century, three chains supporting embossed body above lobed calyx and flange, above suspended ball, weight 120gm, d 5.5cm (2)

    Purchased: Lawsons Auctions, 1984, with original Eggleton notes
  • Notes:
    The first cross is of monastic origin, probably c.1680 and from Jesuit foundation associated with the sacred heart devotion. It probably orignated in Italy, Austro/Hungarian region
