Lot Description:A quality Japanese Edo period Tanto sword blade by Kane To and fittings
fully papered, the blade in good polish with single ubu (drill hole) held within a shirasaya, the handle with dark gold/brown rope binding over the shagreen, bird form dark patinated (copper) menuki, fine trellis patterned fuchi and kashira, the dark patinated (bronze) tsuba of radiating chrysanthemum form, the green flecked lacquered scabbard with abalone inlay, the quality kosuka with gold overlay highlighting the two figures and oni mask towards the scabbard end. Unusually both the blade and fittings with NBTHK papers. -
