    Two lacquered firegilt repousse copper panels Tibet Circa 14thC
    One: Within pearl borders a meandering foliate scroll encircles three images of the Dhyani Buddha Ratnasambhava, his left hand in varada mudra, the gesture of giving or granting wishes. Between the Buddha images, each in its own rich red field, lies a flame-encircled ‘triratna’ the symbol of the three treasures of Buddhism – the Buddha, the Dharma (teachings) and the Sangha (Community of monks), enthroned upon a lotus. Other stylised Buddhist symbols – the bell and the lotus, lie concealed amongst the foliage. Height: 23 ½” (60cm) approx The other: Within a pearl border enclosing a scrolling foliate meander stands a central image of Avalokitesvara (Chenrezig). He is beneath a smaller image of the Dhyai Buddha Ratnasambhava, seated with his hand in varada mudra, the gesture of giving or granting wishes. Below him is a lively image of the Green Tara (Syamatara or Dolmo) , seated on her lotus throne with her hand also in varada mudra. Height: 23 ½” (60cm) approx.
