Lot Description:Badge/Brooch.
Badge or brooch in gilt metal with reverse pin. Within a belt, inscribed with the motto 'Probitatem Quam Divitias' (Probity or honesty rather than riches), the entwined letters 'RIC' or ICR'. The motto is recorded as being used by some families of Clayton or Claydon and the initials may refer to these families. ICR, however, may allude to the Innes of Court Regiment. Fine quality and unusual. [1]. -
