    Group of 6 to Sergeant William James Ramsay, MM, Otago Regiment, 1NZEF.
    (i) Military Medal (MM), King George V (12-1777 SJT: W J Ramsay, 2/Otago R.). (ii) 1914-15 Star (12/1777 SJT W J Ramsay, NZEF). (iii) British War Medal 1914-18(12/1777 SJT W J Ramsay, NZEF). (iv) Victory Medal 1919 (12/1777 SJT W J Ramsay, NZEF). (v) War Medal 1939-45. (vi) New Zealand War Service Medal 1939-45. MM, Second Supplement to London Gazette, 12 November 1918, as a sergeant, Otago Regiment, for his actions in France on 15 August 1918 (no citation).

  • Notes:
    Ramsay was born on 4 March 1888 at Thames. He was a fireman. He served from 14 December 1914 to 21 January 1919, in Egypt, Gallipoli (1915) and Western Europe (1916-18). He was wounded at Gallipoli on 2 August 1915 but recovered and returned to the front. Promoted Lance-Corporal 1 June 1916. Transferred from Auckland Infantry Battalion to Otago Infantry Battalion. Entitled to Gallipoli Medallion. Died 29 June 1965.
