• Notes:
  Martin Sharp and fellow artist Peter Tully were great friends and would sometimes exchange artworks. It was in this spirit that Tully was gifted Sharp’s cheerful portrait of the exuberant Dame Edna Everage. Perhaps this was also a nod to Tully’s professional artistic connection to Barry Humphries’ iconic character, for Tully was the designer of many of Dame Edna’s eccentric eye frames, including the red pair worn in the said portrait.
