• Notes:
  Sumbanese textiles are amongst the most wellknown of the East Indonesian ikats with their large figurative designs. Morinda root bark is used to produce the deep red colour. The deer motif is associated with the Sumbanese royalty. This cloth was a favourite of Donald Friend.
