cotton, natural dyes, weft ikat. Background of deep red, with a geometric weft ikat design set within a framing structure of stripes, bands and ikat sections. The flower pattern in the centre is made up of vertical rows of lozenges

Notes:These cloths have great protective and exorcistic power and are used in rites of passage. The colours white, red, yellow and green correlate with the Hindu deities Iswara, Brahma, Mahadewa, Wisnu and Siwa. The row of white arrowheads along the sides are referred to as gigi barong, the teeth of the protective Barong spirit.
