Notes:The MG TC was the ultimate incarnation of the famous pre-war MG Midgets. Launched in 1946 the TC was well priced and mechanically sturdy. It proved very popular both in America and Australia with many TC Specials built. It is believed that this exciting TC Special was originally the TC of Don Shinners and Bob Irvine before being purchased in 1970 by noted enthusiast, collector and writer John Blanden. This car is featured in Blanden's important book 'Historic racing Cars in Australia', first published in 1979. During Blanden's rebuild of the car the body was removed and the chassis shortened and stiffened. The engine is the robust MG XPAG and the gearbox with shortened remote is TC, along with which the differential are offset to lower the vehicles centre of gravity. The body with its Alfa Romeo P3 racing influences is believed to have been formed by Colin Riley at Mansfield Park in Adelaide on the chassis and the mechanicals commissioned by Blanden himself and constructed by Rob Butler. Its current owner, a connoisseur in the classic car world, has restored the car completely once again and it is in superb condition throughout and accompanied by an extensive history file. Fast and much admired, this TC Special is fitted with a very effective Marshall J75 supercharger. It has previously been exhibited at the Australian National Motor Museum in South Australia. It is also featured in Michael Sherrell's authoritative work "TCs Forever' and was previously the property of the late Paul Samuels, builder of Wakefield Park Raceway at Goulburn, NSW.
