  A Rare Vintage Balinese Polychrome Carved Timber Figure of Vishnu Being Carried by Garuda, Ubud, Mid 20th Century
  Among Vishnu's primary mounts, or vahana, is Garuda, the demigod eagle. Vishnu is commonly depicted as riding on his shoulders. Garuda is a sacred bird in Vaishnavism because it carries Vishnu to save the elephant Gajendra.
